SALUTING MAMA

When my mother decided to buy a house it meant that she had to accept a mortgage that was three times the rent that she was accustomed to paying. It meant that corners would have to be cut and adjustments would have to be made to the food basket and the 'look good' basket. More fibre

PART ONE

“C’mon Mama” I said, “Walk up!” Pointing to a corridor to the right. “Here’s the elevator, the Silver Zone is this way!” I got exasperated when she didn’t move. “Mama the nurse said that the Silver Zone is on the third floor!” Mama walked off in the opposite direction, stubbornly insisting that the Silver Zone was in that direction. Her cane made a rickety-click-click

TO ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS YOU MAY HAVE TO INTERPRET, AND BRING INTO REALITY, THE DREAMS OF OTHERS.

You have graduated from University, earning that higher degree that you have always longed for. You did very well, graduating at the top of your class. Everyone you meet you tell them,  “I am going to do great things in my field of study, I will be climbing the ladder of success heading straight to the top because the industry needs me!”

Achieving your dreams.

                                           https://www.facebook.com/SMSQforall/?fref=ts

Everyone has a dream. If you do not have a dream then you are dead and already buried. Every single person has a dream inside of them. A dream that sometimes lies dormant due to our own insecurities and lack of opportunities. All it takes for a dream to be manifested is an opportunity. An opportunity to showcase your gifts and talents, hoping that someone somewhere will see your potential. Just like a basketball player in High School who dribbles the ball and scores against all odds hoping that a Basketball Scout is in the stands watching so that he or she may obtain that valuable scholarship, you have to be ready for that opportunity. You have to want your dream to come through, you cannot just sit and expect an opportunity to just drop in your lap. You have to work at it. It has been said that "opportunity knocks once", so this means that we are to be in a state of expectation at all times for this opportunity. We cannot be sleeping when opportunity comes knocking so some of us have learned to forego the natural desire of sleep in order to achieve our dreams. Some of us have also had to make serious financial sacrifices as well as sacrificing quality family time in our quest towards success. The rewards, if we endure our struggles, are always great. The sense of satisfaction that we get from our achievements will hopefully outweigh all our sacrifices. This sense of satisfaction, however, is only achievable if we include our loved ones and friends on our journey.

I declare that I will achieve my dreams. I will seek out opportunities to achieve my dreams and, best of all, I have become a light sleeper so that no matter what time of the day, or night, that opportunity stops by, he or she will not catch me napping!

The Role of the Artist Manager in Negotiating the Recording Contract

I find the negotiations of contracts in the music industry to be a very fascinating subject. I have always wondered about who really took charge of these negotiations, was it the Artist, the Artist Manager or the hired Entertainment Lawyer? I wondered

Wanted: A Development Program for Future Jamaican Athletes

The World Championships are over, preparations have started in earnest for the 2016 Olympics. It is such a pity that in 2015 some Jamaican athletes are still being treated 'despicably' by the powers that be. One would think that when Asafa Powell
